Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do I need to be saved, and how do I become saved?"
The Bible clearly states that there is a very real Heaven and Hell (John 14:2-4; Matthew 5:16,22; Matthew 13:41-42; Colossians 3:1-4; Revelation 20:14-15; and many others). So, who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell? When God first created mankind, He gave them one simple command — not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Man disobeyed God though, and every human since then has been born with a sinful nature (i.e. our nature is to be selfish, stubborn, prideful, greedy, etc.). God is perfect, so the only way to get to Heaven is for us to be perfect as well. However, it is impossible for us to live a perfect life. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” We cannot do anything on our own that will get us into Heaven. It gets worse though. Because we don’t obey God’s laws, there is a punishment for our sin. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages [or penalty] of sin is death….” That penalty is Hell — eternal separation from God. Hell is a terrible, horrible place that burns "with fire and brimstone….” (Revelation 21:8). However, the end of Romans 6:23 says, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” God made a way for us to go to Heaven. John 3:16 explains that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God loved you and me so much that He came to Earth as a human (Jesus Christ), lived a perfect life, and then willingly died on a cross to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world. What an amazing gift! John 15:13 says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life...." God gave us the most precious gift of all! However, if someone offers you a gift but you never take it out of their hands, is it actually yours? No. You must accept a gift to make it your own. God is offering you His wonderful gift — a personal relationship with Him and a future in Heaven. Yet, you must personally accept this gift. To receive God's free gift, you must (1) admit that you are a sinner in need of God's forgiveness, (2) believe that Jesus took all the punishment for your sin when He died on the cross, and (3) ask to receive God's forgiveness. True salvation (forgiveness and a relationship with God) will make a difference in your life because God will start to make you more and more like Him. He accepts you just as you are, but He loves you too much to leave you the way you are! If you want to ask Christ into your heart, tell Him now! Don’t worry about being fancy or saying the “right” words. If you have more questions or would like help in knowing what to do after getting saved, feel free to contact us! We would love to help you!
